A linear actuator is an electromechanical device that in its simplest form converts the rotary motion of an electrical motor in to a linear movement via a lead screw that moves an extension tube/piston/rod in and out. Linear actuators comes in many types and sizes. They can utilize AC, DC, stepper or servomotors and be equipped with integrated electronics or stand alone controls.
