Linear Units

How to select the appropriate linear unit for your application

In order to make the selection process quick and simple we have made five quick selection diagrams for our linear units with carriages based on the drive and guide technologies used.

This gives a course overview of which strengths each group has when it comes to acceleration, speed, load capacity, stiffness, cost and the resistance against vibrations, shock loads and corrosive environment.

Our linear lifting units and linear rod units have their own categories as they mainly are used in applications typical for them. In total that makes seven categories of linear units.

Within these groups you will find several different products with different features and functions and it is therefore necessary to study the all the units in the group in detail before selecting the specific unit.

To help you choose the best unit for your application it is necessary to make calculations based on the demand of the application. You can find sizing and selection software and tools on our website and our application engineers are standing by to help you with your product selection and to create the correct ordering code for your choice of unit.

For customers used to the old  Neff Wiesel ordering codes we have developed an Excel based ordering code translator which translates the old code in to the new Thomson Neff code. This translator can be downloaded on the page that the below link leads to.
